About Our Store

Owned and operated by the Garber Family. Folks with a rich and dedicated history in the grocery business. The Garber's first store opened in 1905, and was much like the old general store on Walton's Mountain. After operating in their original location, the store relocated over the years, only to better serve the needs of their customers.

Before opening in their current location, Red Front Supermarket relocated to just off Court Square. Red Front opened their doors at their Chicago Avenue location in 1958, and has been meeting the grocery needs of Harrisonburg patrons ever since. Red Front has always tried to evolve and change to suit the needs of their customers. And, being a locally owned store usually means they can react, and fulfill those needs faster than a chain or nationally owned supermarket. Red Front Supermarket greatly appreciates your support through the years and looks forward to serving you for many years to come.
